Maybe hospitals *can* drive innovation

The idea that hospitals can be the best place for innovation in medical technology counters the accepted wisdom that hospitals and health systems stifle innovation with layers of management and bureaucracy. A medtech executive who worked as a physician at an Israeli hospital that supported innovation within its walls argues that hospitals are the ideal setting for innovation. Hospitals can bring innovators together with physicians and nurses who know the patients the innovators are trying to serve. They also know the workflows clinicians need to treat them, ensuring innovation serves a purpose.

MedTech produced in hospitals will directly address the most pressing needs of doctors and patients. The technology will be tried and tested in a hospital environment from conception, through regulation and on to clinical implementation.
